Frank Guarini, an attorney and real estate investor who served as a New Jersey congressman, has donated $20 million to New York University School of Law. The money creates a global legal studies program, the Jersey Journal reports, which will be called the Guarini Institute for Global Legal Studies. On Wednesday, the center hosted a conversation between U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and Albie Sachs, a former justice of the South African Constitutional Court, according to a NYU Law press release. “Our increasingly international world needs lawyers who can meet the complex challenges presented by a changing global and technological landscape,” the 93-year-old Guarini said in a press release. The institute will support a global fellows program and the scholarship of the law school’s international faculty. Guarini graduated from NYU Law in 1950, after serving in the Navy during World War II, and he went back to the law school for a LLM, New York Law Journal reports. He’s made earlier donations to fund the law school’s Frank J. Guarini Center for Environmental, Energy, and Land Use Law and the Frank J.
